The paper cuter is used to cut the scrap of card stock into the ideal shape for a bookmark. Next, use a heart shaped template to sketch hearts on this bookmark, which is made out of a scrap of card stock. The template is created by folding a scrap of card stock in half, and cutting out half of a heart shape. Doing this creates a symmetrical shaped heart template.

- Place the heart at the top of the card stock.
- Use the light purple pencil to trace around the heart.
- Trace around the hearts all the way down the length of the card. This bookmark has a pattern of: upside up heart , upside down heart, and upside up heart. If it were longer and wider then more of the hearts could be seen, but this smaller bookmark creates visual interest by cutting off portions of the shapes.
- Begin coloring in the hearts with the light purple pencil.
- Continue to blend the purple color on to the hearts.
- Here all of the hearts are completely filled in with the purple pencil.
- Use a salmon pink colored pencil to fill in the area surrounding the hearts. Once the bookmark is completely colored in it is ready to use. These make fun gifts for Valentine's Day, or just any other day of the year!
