- Flip the crap over onto the white-ish side. Fold back the tail flap and pull it offtoss it. The intestinal vein will come along with it.
- Flip the crab back over to the orange side. Pry up, tear off, and discard the top shell.
- Remove the gills (gray feathery things), antennae, and other ookie bits.
- Rinse well under cold water to get rid of all the weird goo and guts.
- Tear off the legs. Keep this part.
- Crack the body in half, then in half again.Keep this part.
- Some people crack the leg shells with a mallet at this point. I don't think it's necessary. The nutcracker alone works fine.
- Use a nutcracker to crack open the leg shells. Use the nut pick to take the meat out of the shells.
