- Maybe you can get lucky and find a scrap tube file like this to search for a good round piece of tube..
- Water your lawn before starting to use sod plugger.
- Do it by hand for a faster job- only water the areas to supply the sod plugger with good, healthy sod.
- I need a sod plugger- this spade takes too long!
- Maybe the color of the spade will make it go faster?

- Yeah, but I need a BIG sod plug!
- Use a wood dowel for the inside wood handle of the sod pusher.
- Make the horizontal piece from a hardwood scrap like you might find in this wood pile.
- Screw the hardwood pusher to the wood dowel with a long brass or galvanized screw.
- Predrill the screw hole to keep from splitting the wood dowel.
- Make a stop bolt to fit outside the galvanized steel pipe handle, it goes through the wood dowel push handle.
- Sharpen the steel tube by grinding the edges where it will push into the sod turf.
- Weld the parts together.
- Be sure you cut a hole where the pipe handle is attached so the wood dowel pusher can fit through.
