Floyd County Animal Control,"cleans house" every Wednesday morning

2164, a young male hound is very friendly. This photo of him has garnered much notice on Facebook, but he is still not safe. Could he be yours?

I cannot believe what I am reading here, is it true that this shelter cleans house and an animal that perhaps brought into the shelter even the day before could be subject to being destroyed just because it is clean house day? This means that people's pets are being put down before they even have a reasionable chance at reclaiming them. This is a horrific practice if it is true!!

There is a special place in Hell for people like him! I surely hope karma catches up with this SOB ASAP!!! These are highly adoptable pets! How can a person do this to another living creature and be content with their actions? Only a killer that is!

Do you know how many people call and claim they will come in to rescue/adopt? They need more space, more money, and more volunteers.
Shut them down and then what, thousands of sick animals running around Floyd County having puppies and kittens constantly? This would be a better solution??
The pet overpopulation problem is rooted with people not taking care of their animals, not spaying and neutering them, and not committing to pets for a lifetime.

The problem ENDS at kill shelters when there is no more room. If you keep looking at the end, the problem will continue. If you fix the root of the problem, then no animals would even ever set foot in the kill shelter, let alone be killed in one as a perfectly healthy baby.

Educate yourself--read 'Redemption' by Nathan Winograd. Yes, more volunteers are needed. Why then are they shutting out volunteers?
