- Collect empty tissue boxes with interesting designs and open them at the seams.
- Cut bookmark-shaped strips. Make sure the backside looks good.
- Pick pretty flowers and leaves. Small items look best.
- Place the flowers between the pages of your parents 2009 tax guide or some newspapers. Weigh them down with lots of heavy books. After a couple of days they will be ready to use.
- Arrange the flowers or leaves on your bookmarks.
- Use a glue stick to place just a little glue on the bookmark (not on the flower, it will tear !) to hold the flower in place.
- Have a helper hold the bookmark in place while you place one or two strips of clear packaging tape over it. Tape the bookmark to the table and push the tape down firmly. Then peel the bookmark carefully off the table and trim off excess tape.
- Write a message on the backside of the bookmark and laminate this side, too.
- If you like, you can punch a hole into the bookmark and attach some embroidery floss for decoration.
- Your mother will be amazed at the pretty gift you made from recycled tissue boxes and some backyard weeds!
