- John Mosure (7) celebrates a TD in the RMS over the Buffs. An awesome Rocky Mountain Showdown followed the announcement, as they Rams and Buffs played at Folsom Field in September. CSU found themselves as a huge underdog, not just lacking in status like most years (The Rams MWC is inferior to the Buffs Big 12) they also had to play in Boulder, a place the Colorado State hadnt won in 23 years.
- Colorado State Athletic Director Paul Kowalczyk and head coach Steve Fairchild looked to move the Rams into the 21st century with the addition of two brand new facilities aimed at both improving current Rams players and attracting new recruits as well. The Academic and Training Center will be used to recruit, educate, develop, and graduate student-athletes. The Indoor Practice Facility includes a 70-yard synthetic turf field and more.
- The losing streak began against the MWC leaders at the time, BYU and included losses to other powerhouses Utah and TCU. But the Rams lost to worse teams as well, including San Diego State, UNLV and New Mexico. One could say the losing was due to a mass of injuries. Or the losing could be attributed to poor coaching. In reality it was a combination of both. In all, the season was a complete disappointment and Fairchild said so himself.
- The Rams, led by Danielle Minch and Jacque Davisson, shutout eight of their 13 opponents on the streak which started with the sweep of the Carolina Classic. The Classic took place Sep. 11-12 and CSU faced Marshall, Tennessee and host North Carolina in the championship game. As the streak continued, the Rams began MWC play and defeated powerhouse TCU, UNC and BYU. They finished 23-5 overall and 15-1 in the MWC.
- The Rams were selected to host the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament. Moby Arena was rocking as CSU faced Middle Tennessee State in a thriller that went five sets. The Rams ended up prevailing 3-2 in the match as they were much stronger in the fifth set than MT. CSU then had to play a postseason rival in sixth-seeded Washington Huskies in the second round the next night. In the fourth and final set, CSU defeated the Huskies 3-1.
- The Rams success rang so loudly that the Mountain West honored both Danielle Minch and CSU head coach Tom Hilbert as the best of the west. Minch was the undoubted leader of the Rams Volleyball team the entire season, smashing 358 kills, hitting for a .246 percentage and she blocked 50 balls as well. Hilbert won the award for the seventh time after taking CSU to its 15th consecutive NCAA tournament.
- The Rams gained momentum and confidence with an underdog victory against the favored CU Buffs. CSU was able to handle their homecourt advantage well and dominated CU 77-62 in front of over 5,000 screaming fans. Travis Franklin was the player of the game with 22 points and 10 rebounds and freshman Dorian Green scored 21 of his own. The game acted as not only a huge win in this young 2009-10 season, but it was Tim Miles biggest in his three years.
- Coach Fairchild made it known that he was not satisfied with the season the Rams had on his blog, CoachFair.com, and his postseason recruiting has shown as much. Following Orakpo, Fairchild received verbal commitments to the biggest need position on the Ramsquarterback. Fairchild visited California after the season and singed both Tyler Shreve and Pete Thomas. Thomas (pictured) is a 4-star prospect and could be the future QB for the Rams.
