Central Phoenix intersection does its best to cheer on marathoners

Normally quiet Missouri was a key route for this year's marathon

Missouri Ave, usually, a quiet street in Central Phoenix, became a main thoroughfare for this year's Rock 'n' Roll marathon.
Keith Makela and Scott Gibson, Gumby and Pokey, respectively, arrived to cheer on the runners at 12th Street and Missouri.
Vickie Scroggins and Cedric Williams were enthusiastic supporters of Scroggin's daughter, Candice Wolk, who was running in her first full marathon.
Darlene Whitmire was also enjoying her first 26 mile marathon. Her husband, Darren, also competed.
Cheerleaders from Marcos de Niza High School in Tempe provided entertainment for the runners and the spectators.
Amanda Cogsweill, a cheer coach for Marcos de Niza, said the Tempe High School comes to cheer the runners every year.
