- In 1994 he returned to Western, MA and open a cafe with his brother Sean.
- The two brother's learned the coffee trade from the ground up, roasting beans and defining their own signature styles of coffee.
- They ventured out into the greater world establishing contacts with local growers for the raw products and within the industry to keep up with better ways of creating a sensational coffee.
- One cafe in Shelburne led to a couple more in surrounding towns.
- At the same time Sean and Darren's propriety blends were taking off as a wholesale side to their business developed.
- They worked tirelessly to get their name out. All along the eastern seaboard cafe's, restaurants, specialty shops, supermarkets, hospitals, colleges and offices started to look to the Pierce Bros Coffee to service their coffee needs.
