- The Murdock Mound was built very late in Cahokia's existence.
- Despite is size and age, the Kenimer Mound is largely unknown - even among archaeologists.
- The Kenimer Mound today appears to be a large hill. Many neighbors do not even know its there.
- Even from the air, the Kenimer Mound appears to be a wooded hill. It is adjacent to the historic village of Sautee, GA.
- Each of the principal mounds at Etalwa (Etowah Mounds National Landmark) were a different shape. Only Mound A is a pentagonal pyramid.
- Etalwa was a very important town from 1000 AD to 1585 AD. It is considered the primary mother town of the Creek Indian People.
- Roods Creek was a 130 acre town on the Chattahoochee River in far southwestern Georgia. The pentagonal mound is on the right.
- Okate O'lamikko (Water People Capital) was founded around 1150 AD in east central Georgia. It is near where Creek Indian singer, Carrie Underwood, was married.
- The temple mound at Okate O'lamikko was about 45 feet tall. The top had two levels.
- The town of Kowete-hassee (Otto Mound) in Norton, NC dates from about 500 AD. Its temple mound and plaza are a mirror image of the plaza and Mound A at Etowah Mounds. It is adjacent to the Georgia state line.
- This Oconee Creek town was on the Oconaluftee River in what is now the Eastern Cherokee Indian Reservation of North Carolina. The mound was destroyed in the late 20th century.
- Koweta-mochaseee (New Coweta) was located on the Chattahoochee River near the Georgia-Alabama line. The mound was still in use until the mid-1700s.
