- The 2011 Ford Fiesta SES has a stylish, solidly built interior, but not a luxury feel.
- The 2011 Ford Fiesta SES has passable front seats -- a little hard, flat, and narrow, but still acceptably comfortable. Leather seat trim is available, unusual for a subcompact car.
- The 2011 Ford Fiesta SES hatchback has an adequate rear seat, but there's not as much room as in an increasing number of space-efficient hatchbacks.
- The 2011 Ford Fiesta SES hatchback has a small hatch opening above a large bumper and between large taillights. A rigid, removable cargo cover rises with the hatch.
- The 2011 Ford Fiesta SES hatchback has 15.4 cubic feet of cargo space behind its rear seat, with an acceptable level of usable floor space, but the cargo hold isn't pretty. Neither is the halfheartedly folded rear seat, which is neither nearly flat nor nearly flush with the cargo floor.
- The Fiesta hatchback (top) doesn't have vastly less cargo room under its cargo cover and behind its rear seat than the Fiesta sedan does in its trunk -- at least, not enough more to justify the loss of overall versatility and the sedan's extra 13 inches of length.

- This button on the instrument panel of the 2011 Ford Fiesta is the only control in the car for the locks. For whatever reason, there are no lock tabs on the doors themselves.
- The 2011 Ford Fiesta's manual transmission works well but doesn't look or feel like it's designed for a fun-to-drive sporty car.
- A handy inset in the 2011 Ford Fiesta hatchback's driver-side mirror (bottom) catches a Buick resting in a blind spot, but the shape of the windows mars a conventional over-the-shoulder visibility check.
- Like a growing number of Fords, the 2011 Fiesta sports a capless gas tank to waste less time at the gas station.
- Until the 2011 Fiesta went on sale this summer, Ford hadn't sold a hatchback since the 2007 model year. That 2007 Ford Focus, sold as a three- and five-door a size class above the Fiesta, is largely similar to this reviewer's 2001 model (pictured). There is a three-door Fiesta available in other markets; the U.S. gets only the five-door hatch and sedan versions.
