- The Nissan Cube's dash design isn't quite as unique as its exterior appearance. Materials feel utilitarian.
- The colors of the gauges apparently are supposed to represent the blue Earth and the gray moon, with a yellow dot that glows for a few seconds between them when you first start the car representing the sun. The gauge needles swing back and forth when you first start the car too, a touch normally reserved for sporty vehicles.
- Top: the headliner isn't sagging -- the ripple is intentional. Bottom: Nissan charges extra for the carpet fragment attached to the top of the dash. The salesman suggested it's designed to hold a cell phone in place, but his slid off almost instantly. It turns out Nissan does warn drivers not to place things there, meaning that this, ah, item is there only for its striking good looks.
- Cargo versatility is a Cube weak point despite a large total capacity, as the folded rear seat is a shelf that's far above the rest of the cargo floor. The Cube's cargo door swings towards the street for safer access, an improvement over the opposite design in the Toyota RAV4 SUV.
