- The Eldorado's seats are nothing like you'll find in a modern car, but that doesn't mean they aren't comfortable to sit on. Safety features don't extend past lap belts, though airbags were optional on this car.
- The Eldorado's rear seat isn't big-car huge, but no modern convertible could come close.

- A photograph gives an inadequate impression of what you see from the driver's seat of a 1976 Eldorado, but it can give some idea that there's a big hood in front of you.
- A full control panel, including the climate controls, sits to the left of the steering wheel. Some of the controls are intuitive; the three-ringed headlight knob that also controls interior lighting was eventually interpreted by trial and error.
- The 1976 Eldorado has an 8.2-liter V8 engine.
- Gas mileage on this test drive was not measured, but the car's owner estimates he gets 12 miles per gallon. Fortunately, as the sun visor reminds drivers, it is not high-polluting.
- For my grandfather's 87th birthday celebration, he came out to look at the Eldorado. After owning a 1961 Cadillac, he wrote off the brand as "Crapallac," but was nonetheless impressed by this example.<br>As he, I, and my older-than-she-looks grandmother were looking the car over, a passersby apparently took us for three generations gathered around our own car, and implored us to "keep it in the family."
- The 1976 Eldorado driven for this review has under 12,000 miles on the odometer. On my way to drive it, my personal car -- from 2001 -- hit 100,000.
