The Get stARTed show at the Burnet Gallery opens Wednesday, July 21 with a reception from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Bringing together emerging artists and collectors, the event ushers them both into the grown-up world of art. Now in its fourth year, the venture offers eleven MCAD artists in their M.F.A.program a chance to go through the full gallery experience. On the other side of the equation, it gives those contemplating a life of art patronage an early look at some talented up and comers.
The project is part of the Le Meridian Chambers Minneapolis's stART program, which supports new and emerging artists. The artists must prepare for the show in all ways -- prep their bios, price their art, oversee its installation in the space and consult with Jennifer Phelps, the gallery's curator.
The work displayed is available for purchase, drawing in young collectors. As this is an introductory show, the gallery eschews its regular commission, giving the artists the full amount paid for their art.
This free opening on Wednesday is a great way to take in some art, support MCAD artists and have a cool cocktail at the Chambers Hotel. Can't make the event? These thoughtful selections will hang in the gallery until September 6, 2010. For more info, visit the Burnet Gallery facebook page. The gallery and hotel are at 901 Hennepin Avenue in Minneapolis.

It's wonderful to have an opportunity to see the creativity of new local artists who attend our local learning institutions. I'll be there!
