Travelers on I-80 encountered snowfall early Friday that led to slick and soggy conditions throughout the day.
Snowfall was reportedly starting at the 4,500-foot elevation level and up to a foot of snow could fall over the higher passes.
The National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory for the Sierra until late Friday night. Isolated snow showers will taper off this evening and strong winds were predicted for Saturday.
