Apocalypse fever seems to have taken over the airwaves. First it was the rapidly approaching Rapture of May 21st, 2011 and now we've got Fox News talking heads happily discussing the End Times without batting an eyelash.
We've got a national figure - who ran for President no less! - on the highest rated news network in the country, calmly and without a hint of irony, discussing the magic of prophecy with an elderly couple lusting for the worlds destruction.
Lahaye: [Obama's Socialism] is going to work against our country, and bring us closer to the apocalypse.
Huckabee: Are we now living in the End Times, from your perspective?
Lahaye: Very definitely governor. I believe that what we see around us, for example the three major issues of our day are the global government, global economy and global religion and those are the three legs of the stool of globalism. And it happens at the same time that Israel just happens to be back in their land for the first time in almost 1900 years. At the same time that Russia and the Islamic nations are getting together - they've never done that in the history of the world - and yet now they're the enemies of this country that God said they'd bring back into the land.
Of course typical of any interview, Huckabee isn't saying much - those are all Lahaye's opinions up there. But we know from Huckabee's time on the campaign trail he endorses the apocalyptic worldview Timothy Lahaye has made accumulated so much wealth inventing warning people about.
And what a world of fantasy he's developed! In terms of sheer inventiveness, Lahaye puts fellow Christian author JRR Tolkien to shame. In the encyclopedic book Armageddon: The End of the World A-Z, Timothy Lahaye has a full twenty seven pages devoted to his views; Not even the Prophet Daniel, whose prophecies Lahaye claims to be working from, gets that much ink.
Whether its his buying into, and development of the antichrist legend, fomenting severe anti-Islamic rhetoric with his threat of a Russian/Muslim/Chinese superpower, pushing the hilarious idea that computer chips are the Mark of the Beast (hilarious until you learn that state Senators have voted against legislation into computer technology specifically for this reason), or constructing ridiculous and foolish arguments connecting the numbers 666 with political worldviews, two things are clear.
1: This guy is crazy.
2: Millions of people thing he's a genius.
What is the world coming to?

Christians scare you? Cruise over to the middle east and say "muslims scare me". see what happens...
Depending on where he is, he'd either be engaged in conversation or attacked. What does that have to do with deranged people (who actively foment much of the propaganda violent Muslims absorb) being prominent political rivals in America have to do with that?
In 9 months. Holy Jesus will Rapture His elect and kill all of the unsaved on October 21st! But first there will be a period of HORRIBLE torment for five months after the earthquake which will spew out the bodies of the unsaved on the ground all over like dung. DEATH WILL BE EVERYWHERE! No escape for those left behind!
