'How I Met Your Mother', 'Big Bang Theory' and 'The Office' nominated for People's Choice Awards

The nominations for PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS 2010 were announced this morning at the SLS Hotel at Beverly Hills by Kris Allen of  “American Idol,” Cat Deeley of  “So You Think You Can Dance,” Johnny Galecki  of “The Big Bang Theory,” Jeff Probst of “Survivor” and Sofia Vergara of “Modern Family.” For the first time, fans voted at www.peopleschoice.com and cast votes to determine the nominees in categories such as “Favorite Movie,” “Favorite Breakout Music Artist” and “Favorite TV Obsession.”

"How I Met Your Mother" led the nominations in the TV Comedy Category with three nominations for the show, for favorite comedy actor nominee Neil Patrick Harris and favorite comedy actress nominee Alyson Hannigan. "Big Bang Theory", "Two and a Half Men", and "The Office" each received two nominations each for favorite TV Comedy and for actors Jim Parsons (Big Bang), Charlie Sheen Neil Patrick ("Men") and Steve Carell ("Office") respectively.

All of television's new comedies were recognized in the Favorite New TV Comedy Category; "Accidentally on Purpose", "Brothers", "The Cleveland Show", "Community", "Cougar Town", "Glee", "Hank", "The Middle" and "Modern Family".
 
Mark Burnett will serve as Executive Producer and Queen Latifah will host PEOPLE’S CHOICE AWARDS 2010.

New to the People's Choice Awards this year will be, a new trophy designed by Waterford and voted on by the fans, the modified trophy design is the first since the inception of the People’s Choice Awards;  mobile voting for “Favorite Talk Show” and “Favorite Franchise”; and an official charity called Children’s Safe Drinking Water as the first official charity of the People’s Choice Awards.
