To find a job, there are many places to check out. Stephanie C. Harper has even mentioned in her research that employers are likely to higher someone that is employed than unemployed, so keep your existing job or get something until you find what you want. According to ‘30 Days to the Work You Love’ by Dan Miller, only 3% of jobs make it to the newspapers. The rest of the positions are filled before they make it to the paper.
So many ask where the jobs and careers located. There are a few places to check:
- Friends & Family: Granted you may not want to work for your friends and family, but they know people that you don’t. Their knowledge base is different than yours and make for a good referral. Also by them referring you to people that they know, makes for a good built-in referral/reference.
- Connecting & Networking: By stepping out of your comfort zone and going to new places to being open to meet new people and talk, there are many people looking for people.
- Check out the City Area: Through the internet and driving around, there are tons of businesses posted up requesting people to apply. If you are unfamiliar with your city, then stop by the library. You’ll be able to determine the name of many of the businesses in your area that you might not have known of.
- Government Organizations: Many government organizations have put their jobs online. Stop by the city, the county, the libraries, and the NESC sites to see any opened positions available.
