Single moms throughout Bangor are wondering how they will handle the influx of incoming candy from their children on and around Halloween. Treats will be obtained and brought home for moms to go through. Having a plan before the event is helpful.

Bangor area stores are now selling Halloween candy. Everyone in the area is stocking up to have enough on hand for the trick-or-treaters who will soon be knocking on their doors. What will the single mom do with all of this candy?
- Make it a policy that children do not get to look into goody bags that are given to them while trick-or-treating. This way, they do not know exactly what they are getting, and mom can sort through everything in her own way later.
- When you get home, allow children one piece of candy that you choose for them.
- Put the children to bed and start going through the candy.
- Take all of the candy from each bag, one bag at a time, out and look for anything that is not edible. Put each child's non-edible items in a bag and write his/her name on it. She or he can have this bag the next morning.
- Put all snack related edibles into one large bowl. These will be used for snacks or school lunches. These items include pretzels and popcorn balls.
- Think about the upcoming holidays. Take out and label a zippered freezer bag for each holiday. Put candy with different colored wrappers into their corresponding bags, then place these into the freezer until that holiday rolls around. For example:
- Red, pink, purple and white can go into a Valentine's Day bag.
- Browns, oranges and yellows can go into a Thanksgiving bag.
- Reds, blues, greens and silvers and golds can go into a Christmas or Yule bag.
- The rest of the candy can go into a container for the children to have as treats when they are having a good day.
By performing these steps, you will not have to purchase candy for upcoming holidays. You will also save money on lunch and snack items. This is a frugal step to a healthier family.

This is bullshit, halloween is all about getting your candy. You are taking away these kid's childhoods and you are sick and twisted. Get your own christmas candy, do not steal from the children. You disgust me!
Just to be clear, the children are still getting ALL of their candy. The candy is not for mom. They are not missing out on any of it, the didstribution is simply done throughout the winter months rather than all at once. It is their candy and they will eat it all.
It is not healthy for children to eat large amounts of sugary treats over a short period of time. It does not hurt them to spread the candy eating out over the winter, and they look forward to having a piece of candy after dinner or their lunch.
No body is sick. Nobody is twisted. Nobody is stealing candy from little kids, and mom is not eating the candy unless the children offer her something that she likes.
