Atlanta Silverbacks - FC Edmonton 0:1(video highlights)

Last Saturday night, April 16th, Atlanta Silverbacks made another attempt to win the game on the home turf.
FC Edmonton appeared to be a more demanding opponent than the Minnesota Stars, controlling the game right from the first whistle.

Silverbacks found themselves in trouble several times and lost an early goal in 11th minute, after defender Alex Surprenant scored with a rising shot from 30 yards.
Jimmy Maurer, Silverbacks goalkeeper was confused by the ricochet as he said after the game (watch the video).
Throughout the first half, the situation did not improve very much, but fortunately for Silverbacks, no more goals followed.
Atlanta's team had only one goal scoring chance, when Junior Sandoval challenged Rein Baart, FC Edmonton goalkeeper with the header (watch this moment).
At the end of the first half Canadians were clearly the better team.

The second half brought  changes into the game and allowed Silverbacks to regroup. Finally their shots had some power and the whole team played at the higher level of determination.
This determination created some great moments but also cost the team a red card when referee Patrick Baker sent off Jon Cox, one of the best players on the Silverbacks team. The situation called for some drastic solutions, like sending Atlanta's goalkeeper Jimmy Maurer into offensive position , leaving his net unattended. It almost cost Silverbacks a second goal, as Edmonton's Sam Lam failed to score into an empty net.

During the final minutes of the game, Silverbacks gave 110% of the effort.
"Super Mario" Pérez executed a great free kick, hitting a cross bar (watch this moment). Soon after the exhausted player left the field.
Defender Shane Moroney send a great shot from a close distance, stopped by FC Edmonton keeper Rein Baart (watch this video).

Next Saturday will prove if three times is the charm for Silverbacks as they will face Fort Lauderdale Strikers at 7:30 PM.
