The Hartford Jazz Festival is one of New England’s largest free jazz festivals. It takes place this weekend on July 17th, 18th and 19th. It runs Saturday from about 1 p.m to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. It is located at the Bushnell Park, 166 Capitol Avenue, Hartford, CT. Over the past few years attendance for the festival has been 45,000 people or more. It features some well known performers from the US and around the world.
The Hartford Jazz Festival features cutting edge jazz performances, traditional and contemporary jazz, and up and coming artists starting out. It is a great mix of different styles of music for those that love music. A great event to bring the family, friends and children to enjoy the music for free. You can bring blankets, lawn chairs, and games for the kids, dogs, hats and comfortable clothing. There are plenty of vendors on site with food and drink for everyone during festival performances.
On Saturday July 18th the Hartford Jazz Festival will have The Mack Jazz Group, jazz singer Toscha Comeaux, CT Based Jazz Group The Modern Riffs, and the Virtual Jazz Band. Later that day Paul Schitz Weimar, Bob Baldwin contemporary smooth jazz and the Rippingtons a contemporary or fusion jazz group. On Sunday get ready to hear the Hot Jazz Band that features swing, and big band jazz. A great way to begin the day. Next the Collin Wade Group plays a local CT student jazz group, jazz vocalist Cynthia Holiday, Azar Lawrence Quartet and Bobby Lyle.
