The latest annual offering from Warren Miller Entertainment, Dynasty, is currently on tour in the US through December 2009. The film includes a Lake Tahoe segment that captures the essence of Lake Tahoe's winter experience including what has long made it an iconic destination and so legendary to winter sports enthusiasts: excellent snow conditions, staggering cliff drops, challenging terrain, distinctive personalities and the stunning, brilliant blue waters of Lake Tahoe.
The Lake Tahoe segment in Dynasty includes local, world-class athletes pushing the limits of gravity and the sport while defining in their own words the beauty of the Lake Tahoe experience that lure them back season after season. The athlete roster ranges from former and aspiring Olympians to World Cup champions including Jonny Moseley, Daron Rahlves, Jamie Burge, Errol Kerr and JT Holmes, who were filmed at locations ranging from the Ski Lake Tahoe resorts and surrounding backcountry to the shores of Lake Tahoe itself.
"The prominent presence of seven Lake Tahoe resorts in Warren Miller's Dynasty marries our iconic snowsports destination with a true ski industry icon - Warren Miller films," said John Wagnon, President of Ski Lake Tahoe. "There is no organization better qualified to visually capture Lake Tahoe's legendary terrain, amazing snow depth and world-class ski experience than the film crews at Warren Miller."
The action in the Lake Tahoe segment runs the gamut from massive cliff drops, back flips, scenic turns above the lake, chest-high powder runs following a textbook Tahoe winter storm to the perfectly-pitched steeps and lake views that make Tahoe legendary. The segment includes Olympic-related storylines, including Jamaican Ski Team member Errol Kerr who is training at Alpine Meadows for the upcoming 2010 Winter Olympics. Additionally, the 2009-10 winter season marks the 50th Anniversary of Squaw Valley hosting the 1960 Winter Olympics.
Lake Tahoe's exposure in Dynasty will help build excitement among skiers and snowboarders for the upcoming season with predictions of an El Niño scenario in the long range weather forecast for Lake Tahoe and plenty of amenities and activities at the Lake Tahoe resorts. The El Niño predictions are on point, with the Lake Tahoe area already being blanketed by two storms that have delivered nearly two feet of early season snowfall. In addition, the Ski Lake Tahoe resorts are putting the finishing touches on new lifts, enhanced terrain parks, backcountry programs, and unique clinics and camps that include opportunities to ski with Dynasty film stars.
Warren Miller’s Dynasty limited release tour will stop in over 240 US cities, including Reno on November 20, 2009 at the Reno Events Center. The film will play in more than a dozen locations in the San Francisco Bay Area. San Francisco venues include the Palace of Fine Arts on November 10, 11 and Castro Theater on November 12, 2009. It plays at the Marin Veteran’s Memorial Theater on November 21. Schedule and ticket information available through Ticketmaster (and Any Mountain stores in the SF Bay Area).
