To me all Siberian Huskies are heroes and famous for something. But ten Siberian Husky have achieved such a fame that their names are instantly recognized by Siberian Husky fanciers world wide.
1.) Kolyma: A Siberian Husky that was imported to Alaska, Kokyma led the top 1910 record setting all Alaska sweepstakes team. Kolyma then led teams in the 1911 through 1914 sweeps winning when he was 10 years old!! Kolyma and his team mates were featured at the Panama Pecific Exposition in San Francisco.
2.) Togo: one of the most famous Siberian Huskies of all is Togo he was Leonhard Seppala's main leader from 1918 to 1926. Togo's well-known journey was a 2,000 plus mile run to Alaskan Rail Road Surveying trip in 1921 and also the serum run relay in 1925. Togo was Sepp's favorite dog, after Togo died in 1929 Seppala donated Togo to Yale University for display.
3.) Balto: Another well known Siberian Husky and most famous, Balto was the lead dog that delivered diphtheria antitoxin to Nome. After the serum run, Balto and his driver rest of the team went to hollywood to star in the movie wings of chance.
4.) Fritz: Fritz is Togo half brother another one of Seppala's main leaders in a scrum run, Also Fritz raced in the last two all Alaskan sweepstakes race. Fritz died in 1923 and his mount can be seen at the Carrie M. McLain Memorial Museum in Nome.
5.) Bonzo: CH. Bonzo Of Anadyr, CD, become in 1955 the First Siberian Husky to win an all breed best in show. More important Bonzo was also an outstanding single leader in Alaska, placing in many of the largest races.
6.) Pando: CH. Monadnocks Pando, the black-and-white, blue eyed dog won five consecutive best of breeds at Westminster and many speciality shows. Three of Pando son's also won best team in show.
7.) Cinnar: In 1980 AM/can CH. Innisfree's Sierra Cinnar, won multiple best in show and multiple best in specialty show winner.
8.) Storm King: OTCH Storm King of Siberia became the first Siberian Husky to complete the requirements for the Obedience Trail Champion.
9.) Monte: In 1995, CH. Storm Watch's Montana was first AKC Champion Husky to finish an iditarod sled race. In 1998 Monte won best of opposite sex at the Siberian Husky Club Of America National Specialty.
10.) Yakut: Alaskan's Yakut Of Anadyr 2 led a purebred Siberian Husky Iditarod team in 1995. Yakut won award of merit at the 1995 national sled bitch class.
