Houston loves to get a head start with decorating for the holidays, from Highland Village's light and wreath displays to the huge Christmas tree in the middle of the Galleria ice skating rink. It's easy to catch on to the thrill of holiday shopping, especially when the stores make everything so pretty, but how can you keep your holiday shopping in check?
- Make your list and check it twice: Don't head to the stores with no idea of what presents you'll buy. Make a list well ahead of time and stick to it, no matter how good all those seasonal goodies at The Body Shop smell.
- Only shop sales: This season, it's pretty easy to limit yourself to shopping only when you see a sale or have a coupon. Retailers are desperate for your business, and don't be afraid to make them work for it!
- Do your research: Call ahead to see if the Urban Outfitters in Rice Village is having a sale, and then check the Urban store in the Galleria to find out their sale schedule. You'll save lots of time and money by researching sales ahead of time.
- Head to the 'burbs: If you want that traditional holiday mall shopping experience, head out to the Katy Mills Mall for outlet prices without giving up serious decorations and holiday spirit.
