Pantone, the color consulting firm and manufacturer of graphic arts, fashion, home and paint-related products, named mimosa the color of 2009.
Mimosa is described as "a warm, engaging yellow" color, named after the mimosa tree and the yummy cocktail.
Though we're in the middle of winter, you can still add the mimosa color to your wardrobe for instant cheer, style and inspiration.
- Wear with jewelry made from natural elements, like wood, for a complementary look that blends well with other colors.
- Easily incorporate mimosa into your wardrobe with a simple scarf, nail polish or bright headband.
- Consider a coat in a bold gold or mimosa color to brighten up your everyday winter look.
- Layer over gray tights or tees for a pretty transition into spring.
- For the spring and summer, add pops of coral or turquoise to look fresh and tropical, without going overboard.

I love the wood jewelry idea. I could use the "instant cheer" about now. Thanks for the information.
Love the headband idea... I'd go with something simple and comfortable like the Jerey Bandeau Stretch headbands from threddies.com
An orangey yellow such as "mimosa" is a difficult color to wear if you have cool (pink) rather than warm (peach or golden) skin undertones. If you love the color but your personal coloring is cool, wear the color away from your face, with a more flattering hue, such as white, cool grey or turquoise, nearer your face.
@The Image Counselor: Great idea! Thanks for adding!
