This morning I was interviewed by Sibila Vargas of Houston's FOX 26 Morning News, and I shared with her some of my favorite tips for finding the best shopping deals, during the holidays and throughout the rest of the year.
The good news is that right now shoppers have a lot of choices since many major retailers have been offering sales since before Thanksgiving. They're continuing to slash prices through the rest of the holidays, so you don't need to feel embarrassed about scouring out the best deals! Here are some of my favorite tips:
* Subscribe to e-mail alerts and online newsletters through the retailer's website. You'll learn about online and in-store specials, will find great coupons and free shipping offers, and if you get too overloaded with e-mails, you can always unsubscribe after the holidays or when you've found the store with the best deals. A range of retailers support e-mail subscriptions, including Barneys and Old Navy.
* Visit online coupon sites like RetailMeNot.com, CouponCabin.com, and ShopLocal.com. You can find discount codes and free shipping offers for online shopping and even coupons for in-store shopping.
* Buy gifts in bulk. Take advantage of 2 for 1 specials and buy 1 get 1 free offers, and then give out the same gift to several different people...especially if they live in different cities or won't be attending the same party.

There's a Cyber Monday II for the weekend of December 6,7 and 8. I found coupons posted at www.cybermondaydiscountcodes.com
Here is another site to add to the list
www.zingsale.com
It's a free service that tracks prices of products from online stores (like amazon) and sends you an email when the price drops. You can set a target price or be notified when it falls by a certain percentage. Might be a nice way to make sure you're getting the best deals this holiday season.
I saw a commercial for CouponCabin so I'll have to check it out. I've also had a lot of success on another price comparison site called Sortprice (www.sortprice.com)
Another great site to try is www.CouponCowgirl.com. They have discount codes for 600+ stores, plus they have a blog that provides additional savings tips and alerts. Very well organized too!
