People are simply dying to get into one Shelbyville funeral home.
Glenn E. George, owner of the Glenn E. George Funeral Home located at 437 Amos Road, reported an attempted break-in at 8:23 p.m. on Saturday.
An employee, Dan Trolinder, of St. Paul, told Sergeant Bart Smith he had been behind the building when he noticed the back door of the building on the west side didn’t appear to be shut all the way. Although the deadbolt should have been locked, it was not.
Trolinder said when he checked on the door, it was unsecure and came open as if it had been broken. The locking mechanism and doorjamb had cracks and other damage. The door-braking system was knocked off its hinges, and screws were missing; a piece of wood from the door frame was lying on the ground.
Smith and other officers checked the funeral home, but found no intruders or damage. George and Trolinder found nothing missing or out of place.
According to Smith’s report, “at this point, it doesn’t appear to be a burglary.”
