The recession has taken its toll on legendary clothing retailer Wilkes Bashford who filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection, the San Francisco Chronicle reports.
The Wilkes Bashford Company filed bankruptcy papers on Monday, a month after Bashford closed his namesake stores in Mill Valley and Carmel.
The company filed for Chapter 11 to ease the sale of its assets to Ed Mitchell West LLC, a Connecticut based luxury retailer. Mitchell will continue to operate its San Francisco and Palo Alto stores, the Chronicle reports.
