This is the second year in a row that the fountain water has been dyed green.  First Lady Michelle Obama came up with the idea to do it.   She said it was inspired by her home town, Chicago, which dyes the Chicago River green every year for St. Patrick's Day.

Ireland's Prime Minister Brian Cowen met with President Barack Obama at the White House on Saint Patrick's Day.  Click here for the story.

San Francisco congresswoman and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi was among those who greeted the Prime Minister in Washington.

San Francisco has a long Irish-American history.  In 1867, the city became one of the first major cities in the country to elect an Irish Catholic mayor.  His name was Frank McCoppin.
