Stacey's Bookstore on Market Street is hosting its last author reading on Wednesday afternoon. Author Cara Black will be reading from her mystery novel Murder in the Latin Quarter.
Whether or not you're a devout fan of Ms. Black's work, this final reading is more of a symbolic last hurrah for the downtown bookstore that has thrived in San Francisco for 85 years. There will also be some treats and wine. From what I hear, it's sure to be a packed and lively event.
So, the event details: Wednesday, March 4 at Stacey's Bookstore, 581 Market Street. 12:30 to 1:30pm.
Also while you're there, be sure to buy some books from their leftover inventory. Everything is now 50% off!
Who knows, I wouldn't be surprised if one day in the not-so-distant future, your collection of print books will be worth millions. Pack 'em in while you can!

Spot.Us and the Public-Press are just $20 shy of fully funding a reporting endeavor about the closing of Stacey's Books. That's just two people donating $10 each. And the finished content will be published on the Public-Press but will be made available to republish elsewhere (Examiner?) - of course, they have to give credit to the reporter(s). So it really is community funded journalism that is then owned by the public.
