The V TV series that airs on ABC has been a ratings hit, but is it also a political commentary on the Obama administration?
The Web site TVOvermind.com recently asked ABC's V series star Morena Baccarin to comment on political pundits suggesting the series could be an allegory on the Obama administration. Baccarin plays the alien leader, Anna.
She told the Web site, "I don't think it is intentional to make Anna [into] Obama, but I think that there are similarities – you can compare it. I think a great show gets people thinking, and it's really awesome that people have an opinion and see similarities to their everyday life from the show. I think that's really exciting. We're certainly not "Anna is Obama", but it reminds us that we have certain needs as human beings and somebody always comes in and says they are going to deliver – and they don't. A lot of the times they don't. And here we are, aliens giving everyone healthcare – I think that is a really great, ironic twist."
FOX's Bill O'Reilly and Sean Hannity discussed the similarities between V and the Obama administration. Hannity said that he thinks the show is one he could "actually get behind."
New York Post columnist Kyle Smith described Baccarin as the conservatives Tina Fey.
Below is the complete first episode that aired on Tuesday, November 3.

Only Fox could take a Bush allegory and find an Obama one.
i want it All baby!!
It's an allegory of powerful government in its myriad forms. Being that the original was done over 20 years ago the basic concept can hardly be about "Obama".
i agree with hamburger and Dave.
The 1980's show was adapted as a sci-fi version of a 1930's satirical novel titled "It Can't Happen Here", which was about a takeover of America by a fascist/communist dictator. There is a perception by some Americans today that dissenting voices are being suppressed by the current administration, which lends itself to comparison with the plotlines in "V" and "It Can't Happen Here". If the satire fits, wear it.
Although parallels can be made with Obama, I think the majority of this show's ideas are derived from alien/government conspiracy theories that have existed long before Obama was voted into office as well as before the original series was created. If you look up keywords like "Reptilians," "New World Order," "Pleiadians," etc. you'll find more parallels there than with Obama. Of course, the creators still could have intended anti-Obama messages in it as well, who knows.
But Clipmarks posted this before both you and TVOvermind.com on Nov. 4th, even before Hannity. A link would have been appropriate to that original (plagiarized?) post entitled "TV Series V: Allegory or Propaganda"?
Is it really an allegory because they talk about current events?
They talk about a lot of CURRENT topics and remember the source material actually dates back to the Spanish Civil War and Nazis Germany.
The show was written and in production before it's air date in 2009. They have been working on it since 2005
