eco-style at great prices
So it's finally Summer here in SF and it's officially fall everywhere else! This means all the summer dresses are flying out of our closets to catch the few weeks of an Indian summer we are granted. Many of us feel the urge to go out and buy a new summer frock, but try and resist the consumerist urge. I am sure you all have something that will be perfect for these beautiful 80 degree days. But if you absolutely have nothing to wear please buy responsibly!
A few great spots to check out are:
Buffalo Exchange: Haight St. between Clayton & Ashbury (Upper Haight) this shop is great for all kinds of used fashions. I got a great pair of shoes here… you know the kind where when you put them on you become the most awesome version of yourself and everyone knows. But the prices are of course fantastic and the most eco thing is to not use more resources! So re-use!
Eco Citizen: Vallejo @ Polk St (Russian Hill) this place is where I go when I want to see what all the eco-fashionistas are wearing. Joslin has the best selection of high end dresses and gorgeous clothes I just swoon over. I purchased a little silk dress by Edun here a few months ago, and it’s so versatile it will easily last through multiple seasons.
Clary Sage Organics: Fillmore & Clay (Pacific Heights) this is the newest kid on the block. They have organic cotton clothing as well as a smattering of personal care products and fun things for all eco-conscious ladies.
On-Line check out my new favorite You Deserve. This site is dedicated to eco-wear that is affordable. Check it out and you’ll love it too.
I always recommend buying organic, or responsibly (meaning no sweatshop labor, natural fibers like bamboo, cotton, linen, wool) but if you just can’t do it, make it a sustainable piece for your wardrobe. Classic pieces never go out of style, meaning you can wear them season after season, year after year. Honestly if you feel good, you look good, so invest in something that makes you twinkle and you won’t need another throw away dress from forever 21 next summer.

Thanks for these tidbits of info! I will certainly be checking these places out! AND I appreciate you putting this in a way that doesn't make us (me) feel bad for those times I unconsciously consumed... You ROCK my SOCKS!
