SF Bay Area Filipino 101: Where can I buy manila mangoes in the bay area?

Manila mangoes

Although Manila mangoes are available throughout the year, its peak season is April through September. Many Filipinos especially those who grew up in the Philippines miss the sweet, juicy and delicious taste of the carabao mango also known as "Manila Super Mango". Even David Archuleta loved the manila mangoes when he came to the Philippines with David Cook back in May for their American Idol tour.

The Manila mangoes available here in the USA are imported from Mexico. You can find them at Asian stores like Ranch 99 and Lion Supermarket. You can also find Manila mangoes at:

King's Seafood Center

1. Peel off the skin and eat it by hand
2. Slice off both cheeks lengthwise and scoop out fruit using a spoon
3. Slice off both cheeks and cut a cross-hatch pattern (like cubes) then scoop it out with a spoon or
if you don't have a spoon, push it outward and eat it.

I miss Philippine Mangoes so much, it's all I can do not to eat an entire bag of dried mangoes that I can get at Costco. Thanks for the info, I'll see the Seafood City in Las Vegas carries them.

    Subscribed by the way. :-)
