Jose Zarate will appear in Santa Clara County Superior Court Monday for sentencing on charges of molesting his niece.
Karinah Guzman is now 21 years old and she spoke out about the crimes her uncle committed against her when she was between the ages of 9 and 13 with the hope of helping other young girls going through the same thing.
Zarate will likely receive no fewer than 9 years in prison for a forcible sex crime. He could receive up to 30 years.
Zarate’s charges include lewd and lascivious acts on a child by force, on a child under 14, violence, duress and fear.
