Peek at the imperfect notes of other writers in Hit & Run Magazine

Writer James Matthew's notes

Creativity has to start somewhere, even if it's not pretty. Hit and Run Magazine gives you a snapshot glimpse of the messy inception of harebrained ideas before they transform into more accomplished, "professional" works ... whether they're short stories, screenplays, or music.

Each entry in Paul Toth's new mag-blog (Is that a hyphenate? If not, I'm making it one!) features the raw notes, scribblings, or throwaway thoughts of a different writer, artist, musician, or creative person.

Personally, I find it refreshing to see work at its most new, most unformed, with a thousand prospective directions to go. If you're a perfectionist, just one glance at these handwritten scrawls is a calming influence.

By the way, Toth is a great writer in his own right, with four novels under his belt (such as Fizz and Fishnet) and published pieces in more literary magazines than I can count. More than anyone, he knows that with creative work, the means is the ends.

Oh, and you can also submit a picture of your own works-in-progress!
