A spokesman for the Richmond, California Police Department is announcing new addresses where people can send gifts and contributions for the 15-year-old girl who was gang raped outside of Richmond High.

The attack happened on Saturday evening, October 24. The girl had to spend five days in the hospital recovering.

Richmond Police spokesman Lt. Mark Gagan said police have received hundreds of phone calls and e-mails from all around the country and around the world. He said people are eager to send money, gifts or simply expressions of support.

Contributions can be sent to Mechanics Bank, 3170 Hilltop Mall Rd., Richmond , CA 94806 . Checks should be payable to "Jane Doe of Richmond." The account number is 041-30-1188.

Items such as cards, letters, teddy bears or other gifts should be sent to the attention of Sgt. Lori Curran at the Richmond Police Department, 1701Regatta Blvd., Richmond , CA 94804 .

Gagan said the girl collects teddy bears and enjoys shopping, clothes and music.

On Sunday, November 1, the San Jose Mercury News listed another address where people can send donations.  The address is the church where the girl attended.    In addition, last week Richmond High also announced it was accepting donations.  The church's pastor told this reporter by e-mail that donations to the other addresses are fine with the family.   Below is information from the San Jose Mercury:

"The victim's family has requested that donations and cards (no flowers at this time) be sent to Pastor Jim Wheeler, who is coordinating the funds on their behalf. Make checks out to:
First Presbyterian Church of Richmond,
3415 Barrett Ave., Richmond, CA 94805
with "Victory Over Violence Fund" written in the memo line.
For more information, call the church at 510-234-0954 or e-mail firstpresrichmond@sbcglobal.net."

Why was the girl there with all of those guys to begin with?? Was that a joke that got out of hand or what?? Someone wasn't thinking. The girl should have never been there herself. Plus how does anyone know for a fact that she was so called raped. Look at the liar in North Carolina at the Duke case. That black girl lied about those white college kids, just to get her 10 seconds of fame. How do we not know this is like the same or something. No one really knows. If it is I hope they sue her for slander. Poor guys. I hope they have really good lawyers to defend them against this trash.

Yes, does anyone really know. Did the police investigate her and her background to see what kind of person she is. Is this a stunt or what. I agree. She had no business there herself. You hear of all of these scams and I bet this is one of them. Did she also say that she collected money for this too. Because I think it was caught on tape and someone sold it and she did get some money for it. So she already made her money for this. Why send anything else to her. The police needs to investigate her.

Are you kidding me? This is no scheme! No 15/16 year old is savvy enough to cook up a scheme that would include herself getting beaten up unconscious as a part of it. No amount of money is worth that. I can't believe anyone would think this is a scheme to make money. I feel so bad for people that have to live in an environment like that, where the people that try to do the right thing are in fear for their lives. This girl was naive and trying to fit it in, it's heart-breaking that she had to experience such violence due an unfortunate lack of judgement.

This isn't a case where a pyschotic chick accused innocent guys of raping her. This is a situation where there appears to have been a beating. That is a pretty high indication of a rape.
Regarding the life imprisonment scenario, that would be adding
one injustice to another given their ages.

Ryan...you are comparing a seasoned stripper, to a school girl going to a school dance...HUH???? Hello???? (not that a stripper or 'anyone' deserves to be rpaed, but there is NO comparison to the situations))
There were MANY witnesses to this school girl rape..one of her friends tried to help her and was beaten himself...it was recorded she was no willing participant. Thank god for all the evidence...the **FACTS** prove she was RAPED DURING A HATE CRIME...SICK TO SEE HEARTLESS CONTRIBUTORS ON THIS BOARD..reminds me of the witnesses standing by...SHAME ON YOU

Eh, I think 20-to-life in prison for convicted gang rapists could be fair no matter their ages, especially depending on what other crimes they've been convicted of in the past, and the likelihood of recidivism or committing other violent crimes. No one should have to go through what this girl went through, and if convicted rapists are likely to keep doing it due to a lax sentence, what we'll get instead is more 20,000,000 checks going to a whole lot of Jaycee Dugards (and/or to their families), and in the meantime, no one will feel safer. Let the rapists of the world roast designer coffee beans in the clink for $1 an hour for as long as it takes to re, and let the productive and good citizens of this country live freely.

Can rapists be rehabilitated like other violent criminals can sometimes be? I don't know. A friend of mine works as a forensic psychiatrist for CA, and his opinion is that the behavior is a sign of a larger pattern of mental disconnect that's hard to root out and st

The 4 million the taxpayers are paying should be help enough for a girl who decided to go to a dark area and get drunk. Sometimes common sense should kick in, 4 million? I hope the suspects get what they deserve, long prison sentence...but 4 million from the taxpayers? That is more than 90% of Americans earn in a lifetime. No wonder school systems are in shambles and organizations are going broke. 4 million from taxpayers? Should be from the 10 rape suspects, clean them out...not taxpayers and the school system.
