One of the difficulties of shopping for cyclists is that their bikes are such personal objects. For example, you'd never buy a cyclist a new seat no matter how cool or perfect you thought it might be, no more than you would presume to buy your cyclist a new set of handlebars. But there are some items that most cyclists, and commuter cyclists in particular, are bound to appreciate this holiday season.

GLOVES If cold hands are the bane of your winter-cycling existence, then the pricey-but-awesome V5 Sprint Glove System is for you. It's only a glove liner, but it's heated, making commutes in sub-zero climates a toasty pleasure. For those of us who live in places where it doesn't often dip below freezing, Specialized's Radiant gloves should do the trick.
GLASSES The best thing to keep your glasses from fogging up is Cat Crap. Not sure what else there is to say about that...
FENDERS Okay, this is dicey territory, where something you think is brilliant might horrify your cyclist. But who wouldn't love a set of wooden fenders with a name like 60's Acid Trip? I have been using the vaso glove liners for the last couple of weeks. It has been a cold winter in chicago and i suffer from raynaud's, so the liners has made a huge difference on the commute to work.
