Police in Richmond, California, have arrested two people overnight bringing the arrest total to five in the gang rape of a 15-year-old girl over the weekend.

Richmond is part of the San Francisco Bay Area, about 20-minutes north of Oakland.

The latest arrest happened late Tuesday night when I 17-year-old boy from nearby Pinole turned himself into police.    He apparently knew investigators were looking for him.   Officers went to his home earlier on Tuesday but he was not there.

Two other people were arrested earlier on Tuesday, including a 16-year-old boy from neighboring San Pablo.   A Richmond resident, 21-year-old Salvador Rodriguez, was also taken into custody on Tuesday.

The names of the suspects under 18 were not released because they are juveniles.   Police expect to make more arrests soon.

Investigators say that more than 20 people may have witnessed the rape or knew it was going on but did nothing.   Police said some of the suspects showed no remorse during questioning.

Investigators said the victim was leaving a homecoming dance around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 24, when she joined in with a group of people in a secluded area outside the school.   She drank brandy very quickly and became intoxicated, leaving her more vulnerable to the attack, police said.

A 15 year old drink? You find that strange? All high school kids experiment with alcohol - that does NOT mean they should be gang raped. Get a life 'informed.'

Hey, informed--you seem to be suggesting that the girl was somehow responsible for what happened because she got drunk. Are you effing crazy?????? Wonder if you'd react that way if it was your daughter, you moron.

Thanks for contributing to victim blame, "informed."
As a rape victim myself I'm disgusted with you and those who share your viewpoint. It's unacceptable no matter the circumstance to blame the sufferer.

all the names and pictures of the people who stood around should have their pictures and names published in the paper, they may not be punishable by law but they can be called out. as far as the rapist, they should be given to Michael Vicks dog handler.

It brings tears to my eyes that anyone could could do this action at all!! then adding in a group of rapers and with on lookers doing nothing to help to stop!! All of the individuals looking and participating in this act should get life in prison or gang raped by ten with two dozen on lookers themselves!!!

How can people just watch or walk by and not say anything. Especially other girls. If it would have happened t othem they would want someone to call. As far as her bein drunk yea she put herself at risk but it doesnt excuse the people who took advantage. Even at 21 a girl could get drunk and have something likethat happen to her so dont blame high school drinking. Its bad but rerally does anyone deserve that. Her one mistake is going to stay with her forever. Other kids video taped it andtook pix. No one deserves that.

Well, i mean the 20 or so onlookers don't have a civic duty to report the crime. They aren't obligated to do so. I'm not say that what they did was beneficial for all parties involved buy they are not required to do anything.

Anarchist-They were watching a SICK CRIME being commited against a minor. Yes they were obligated to do so. If that girl was 13 and under all of them would be prosecuted, thats the law. But since she is 14 they have to prove that the onlookers were goading the animals raping her in order to be charged. What kind of sick person are you? Would you sit there and watch disgusting animals, as many as 10 or more rape a passed out innocent 14 year old. What has this world come to? We need to hang these fools from a tree to rot to set an example. What disturbs me is the article says they showed no remorse. Thats because they think nothing serious will happen to them. I want justice and laws made harsher. SICK SICK SICK

    @ marie.

the law says that they can be tried if the victim was 14 or younger. The victim was 15. I am not condoning what they did. I am merely saying that they had no obligation to do anything. Its the " not my problem" mentality. What they did did not benefit anyone but they didn't have to report it either.

wow... wonder how many of these grease balls were illegal aliens... & as far as the people who stood there & did nothing to stop it... they are just as guilty as the rapists, it means they approved of the crime. to just stand there & watch/videotape/ take pics, like it was some kind of fuking game or joke. they should all be sentenced to life in prison or executed... make examples out of them so hopefully it would deter others from commiting the same crime in the future... but it wont happen... not in this crybaby country... people will come forward & say that because they were young they dont understand what was going on & we shouldnt be so harsh on them cause al they need is counselling... watch... mark my words these little bastards will get a slap on the wrist for this horrible crime, meanwhile the victim will have to go thru years of therapy & live with this for the rest of her life.

Who are you to decided what is right and what is wrong? Who are you to judge others with your own beliefs? You do know what is right and what is wrong. You do not have the right to judge others with your own beliefs. No person among us has the right to say what is 'right' and what is 'wrong'. No person can say what is 'good' and what is 'evil'. You are a hypocrite if you say you know what is 'right' and what is 'wrong'.

HOW can Anarchist say someone doesn't have a civic duty to help another human being? You are as big a piece of trash as those that perpetrated the crime. Yes, I have stepped up for someone I didn't know who was in a bad situation...it wasn't rape, but it was an assault and I didn't seek any attention or hero status. I just did what I hope someone else would do for me or ANYONE who is being hassled.

Anarchist is ridiculous. There actually is right and wrong in this world; hence laws. The rapists are wrong. Period. Those that observed are wrong. Period. Walk away and call 911 if your too damn ass chicken to stand up like a real person. They should be carted off to prison to endure their own hell. I hope karma is in full swing by the time they get there. This is a heinous crime that no one asks for or deserves EVER. Maybe Anarchist should trade shoes with the girl who was brutalized for even 5 minutes--and then have a discussion of right and wrong. What a joke.

Let's say is was a 30 yrd old woman...what would be the difference? Men are stronger than women in general...it DOESN'T give them the right to be animals. These boys have put themselves in a bad situation by getting thrown in jail and made it worse by raping a girl... inmates don't treat these criminals very nicely.

There is no such thing as 'right' and 'wrong', 'good' and 'evil'. At the very most you can say an act is beneficial or not beneficial for the people involved. Good and Evil are just umbrella terms society uses to describe what it encourages and discourages people from doing. There is no 'good' or 'evil' in any act. We say murder is bad and then we send our troops out to murder others. No act is inherently good or bad. There is only the act. Good and Evil don't exist. Only benefits do.

The police had better cross every t and dot every i, becuase you can bet that 21 year old was so involved in this crime, that he was probably on the the folks still on scene when the police arrived. And the friend trying to cover for him should be arrested as well, even if he can't be charged. Just hold him in lock up for a day or two and make sure everyone knows he is covering for one of the rapists in this case.

Then we'll see how long his lie holds up!

These boys deserve the harshest punishment there is to give. What would make them even want to committ such an horrible crime. What did this young girl do to deserve what they did. What they was wrong no justification whatsoever. Granted the law states the bystanders did not have to say anything but how can you stand there, take pics and tape the act without your conscious saying that is so wrong. What world do we live in that young minors are even afraid to speak up for one another. Very scary. The code of silence applied to mafia and hard core murderes who ran the old school. Helping someone is not snitching. The 21 year old, I pray he gets similiar treatment behind bars.

Excuses..excuses...excuses to act like a heartless beast and be proud of it..no SHAME. Many kids today are not taught ACCOUNTABILITY for thier actions...or RESPECT for others and thier feelings. Helpless Children, women and animals are sadly fair game for these bullies and predators. I am tired of EXCUSES to let rotten hearted, hurtful people victimize and hurt others.
Many times the prepetrators families arent even ashamed of what has been done....shows why the kids are the way they are. STOP MAKING EXCUSES AND GIVE THEM THE PUNISHMENT THEY DESERVE! Thank god for the lady who had the 'decency' to call for help...

  • Cowgirl 2 years ago

I hope the victim did not also get some disease from these bully fiends. Rape Traumja doesnt disappear...I pray this poor girl can rebuild her life...PUNISH THESE PREDATORS. What if it was your sister, daughter, mother, small son, who they grabbed and help captive & raped?
How sympathetic would you be then?? THEN...Anarchist...would YOU
pick up the phone and call or report it? Would you feel someone should be obigated to help?? Or would you be so casual about it
...not thinking anyone should be 'obligated to bother'? What if YOU were the victim....think about it. Thats the problem with criminal mentality..they have no compassion for victims...and are SELFISH & self absorbed...so anothers pain is of no concern to them.
