The reason the cucumber is an aphrodisiac for women is "for obvious phallic reasons" Dr. Oz told Diane Sawyer of Good Morning America.
This got me thinking. How does that work? I'm no cucumber know-it-all but as far as I know most cucumber recipes require some slicing or chopping and that's definitely NOT an aphrodisiac! Is the man of my dreams supposed to make a salad and plop a bountiful cucumber on top to get the cucumber-to-libido connection?
It turns out the aroma, besides shape is what turns a woman on. Time to update the grocery shopping list.
For men, it's the oyster. No lie! The oyster's appearance alone (for straight men, anyway) can give a guy a jolt. But oysters contain zinc which helps preserve testosterone - the fuel injection source to rev up a man's libido.
Other foods that increase libido for men are doughnuts (the smell only, Dr. Oz was adamant that you can't eat them. Yea, right!) The smell of lemons and licorice are also strong aphrodisiacs.
Women also like the smell of licorice. It makes you wonder if the makers of Good & Plenty knew what they were doing when they created the color and shape of their licorice candy.
