NBC's Biggest Loser, Helen Phillips
The 3-hour season finale of the Biggest Loser revealed 48-year old Helen lost the largest percent of weight (55%) and won the challenge. You only had to tune in during the last 10 minutes to find this out.

She beat out Tara and Mike for the $250,000 grand prize. They all looked amazingly slim. Mike lost 207, Tara lost 155 and Helen lost 140 pounds.
The rest of the show was a lengthy weigh-in of the other 19 contestants who were eliminated over the past 18 weeks of the season. Sixty-four year old Jerry, who left after 2 weeks on the ranch, won the at-home prize of $100,00. He lost nearly 50% of his weight.
Season 7 was a landmark season. It had the heaviest, oldest, youngest and sickest contestants. Tara never fell below the yellow line and also won a record number of challenges.
Season 8 starts in September. Casting for season 9 is now open. Family member teams of 2 who each have over 100 pounds to lose are needed.

Maybe they will surprise us and Max will be in the show - nice thought, anyway! I'm just disappointed with Helen - why didn't she help her daughter lose more weight? They were supposed to be in this together and Helen just seemed to become extremely self-centered about the whole process. I know she has to take care of herself first, but I can't imagine why she didn't seem to care about Shanon more.
I agree with mve, Helen was self-centered and her lack of concern for her daughter bothered me, too. Plus, I think she looked too thin and not particularly healthy at the finale. I feel her interest was in winning.
I was disappointed- Helen was my last choice to win. Any 'mother' that would not put her daughter's well being before her own, well to me, is not a very good mother. I am surprised she has not received more critism. I was rooting for Tara as she had an astounding season and was the one who truly desreved it. I hope Helen comes under huge critism for her selfish ways.
I have to agree with everyone else here, I was very upset when Helen won. She was such a whiner. Maybe should have taken lessons from Ron on how to be an unselfish parent. Ron was so devoted to Mike. Any normal parent would have put their child first. Tara and Mike are my "Biggest Losers" they were great!!!!!!! Go Max-it would be great to see him next season!!
I really wish Mike or Tara had won. I felt like her or Mike deserved it. Helen seemed to cry and whine her way to the finale. I would love to see Ron's son on the next season. He seemed like a great guy just like Mike! Ron really seemed like a dad who only wanted the absolute best for his kids. I really enjoyed watching them this season.
I was disappointed to find out that Helen won the Biggest Loser. She was constantly complaining and did not work with her daughter to lost more weight. Mike and Ron showed a devote family bond each week and Tara never fell below the yellow line. She constantly pushed herself. Congrats Tara to your inner victory. I have to agree with everyone else; bring Max on next season!!!
I agree with these posts about Helen. She whined and complained her way throughout the show. She even threw her daughter under the bus! After weight loss, as we all know...the hard part begins..keeping the weight off!
Helen deserved to win as much as Tara or Mike. Why the world still believes a parent has to sacrifice everything for an adult is beyond me. Her daughter wanted to go home and has to make her own decisions and be responsible for her own actions. Helen gives her the support needed. What surprises me is how no one can see how Ron manipulated everyone using his son's weight as a guilt trip to kick off everyone else. If Ron truly cares Max will lose the weight just fine without the game.
I was a little disapointed that Helen won, but she worked hard and is very deserving. I agree, I would love to see Mike's little brother on in the near future! Congratulations to all of the biggest losers!! You are all so inspiring!
I too was disappointed with Helen's win. I won't be surprised if later they discovered she became anorexic, 117 lbs maybe too low for her body frame. Her goal was defintely about winning the money instead of gaining the knowledge to be healthier.

Let's just be happy for Helen. She wasn't my first choice either, but she worked just as hard as the other two. And she played the game very well. Why Shanon did lose as much weight who knows. Maybe now Shanon will be more inspired.
Both Jerry and Helen look like death warmed over. Not a realistic weight to maintain at all. Looks like they starved themselves skinny!

Good comments on all. Lots of "food for thought". What makes Ron's manipulations and lies better or at least more acceptable than Helen's self centeredness? Shannon needed help, but it is her journey as an adult now, right? I am not defending Helen, but Ron kind of gives me the creeps, does anyone alse feel that?
Could someone explain to me how you can go from 147 pounds to 117 in thirty days?
I was hoping handsome Mike would take it all but just look at him. He is a winner. He lost weight and gained courage and self dignity in the process. It was the best season ever!
I could stand Helen and her selfishness from the first episode when she sent her daughter home for 30 days...and then to send her back home AGAIN...the most selfish thing I have ever heard a mother do...So disappointed she won...Tara and Mike were the ones the DESERVED to win!!!
I was extremely dissapointed in last nights results. I find it hard to believe that Helen could lose another 30 pounds in just thirty days after all the weight she had lost already. Parents don;t "have to sacrifice" for their kids - most of them are just happy to do so. Not Helen - it was all about her.
I am glad that Helen won. I think she deserved it. When her daughter went home on the show it was that entire team's decision.
Also, if I am not mistaking. The last taped show and the finale were more than 30 days apart. I think people are getting that time frame mixed up with the last taped show. Look at the snow that is on the ground when the final three/four went home.
I personally am glad Tara did not win.

I too wanted Tara or Mike to be the winner. Someone who complains, whines, about how they're changing their life for the better is very discouraging to hear after awhile. But I cannot judge to much, I wasn't there. I really hope to see Max on season 8 or 9 - you can do it Max! Mostly, I love watching this show because it has continually encouraged me to keep trying, don't quit and I too, will achieve my goal. Hearing contestants share their problems, hopes and dreams-- I can relate to what many of them say on so many levels. thank you to all the contestants, to Bob and Jillian, you all keep me going.
I have watched this show from the start. I am really amazed at this ending. I really don't understand how it is considered healthy and that you can win - when you look like you have been very ill and that this show would promote this. My whole family thought Helen looked way too thin. How does that give people who are overweight and lack self love because they are not thin enough to even try to understand a person can win by looking like they starved themselves and that won it for them???
First of all, Jerry looked awful and I thought made a fool out of himself. I was disappointed that many of the contestants (not the finalists) looked very much the same as they did when they were sent home. Kerstin looked fantastic with her new, funky hairdo! I think Helen should have gotten a new do, too. That hair!... no shape, no style. Tara looked the same to me on the final show as she did the last time I saw her -- she looked wonderful but no change! Mike looked fantastic -- what a change in everything about him.
Helen is missing the maternal gene. What a terrible ending to a great season. The wrong person won. Tara or Mike should have had this. They looked incredible while Helen looked half dead! She looked 68, not 48! Mike commented that "It has been a long time since being on the ranch". So it wasn’t 30 days it was more like 3 months. If taping starts in September, it must end in the beginning of February. It cannot be 30 days because remember they actually were training for a 26 mile marathon and only dropped 10 in 30 days. It must be closer to 3 months!
I too wanted to see either Mike or Tara win. I thought Helen looked awful!! So did my teen age daughters. There is something to say about healthy wieght loss and both Tara & Mike achieved that. Helen just looked sickly and much older than her 48 years. I can't believe this super weight loss from Helen is good for the "healthy" weight loss profile that Biggest Loser supports.
I am so disappointed that Helen won. I also agree with the other posts. I wanted either Mike or Tara to win, who have truly inspired me. I was so upset that Helen let her daughter go home. There is no way I could have done that. Shannon should have been allowed to stay after getting back on the ranch after those 30 days of being at home. Shannon wanted to stay but she said that she was going home because her Mother wanted to stay. Very selfish of Helen. She should have given Shannon more time on the ranch like she had. And I also agree. She looked so much older than her 48 years. But she did the work and she was dedicated. No one can take that away from her. I just hope she helps her daughter more now that she will be home.
I also hope Max is on the next season. He deserves the same chance that Mike and Ron got to lose weight and get healthy.
I am tottaly disgusted that Helen won! I think she is such a selfish individual. To request that America send her daughter home and keep her was incredibly selfish!! I have no respect for that woman! She is a bad mother and her winning ruined season 7!
I think Helen is very selfish woman to let her daughter go home. She looked awful. The dress she wore well...not good! She did not deserve to win. Very dissappointed!
Helen wasn't my first choice either. Geez, I thought I was the only one upset that she asked her dtr to go home. She did finish a marathon and kept up with the best of them. CONGRATS! My fav was Kristen (sp?) she looked marvelous.
I too was upset with Helen being the winner. I just sat there saying no. It should have been Mike or Tara. Helen is selfish by letting her daughter go home,she is much younger and has more of a life ahead of herself. Remember Helen eating that cookie to punish Tara, Helen only thought of herself. She does look sickly and much older.
I think the Biggest Loser sets up unrealistic expectations for people trying to lose weight. These contestants lost an average of 8 pounds a week, every week. Even Helen states that once she went home, she quit her job, so she could work out 6 hours a day! How many people can do that? Yes, they all worked hard, but I DO NOT FIND them inspiring.
It's very unfortunate that Ron/Mike conspirated to send Kristin home and save Helen. Helen is selfish, two-faced and disgusting. Hopefully, she will use some of her winnings for a facelift and help for daughter
I think Helen was selfish to send Shannon home but if you watched the show you would realized that Shannon had lost nearly 80-90lbs. Thats nothing to be ashamed of on her part. I wish Shannon nothing but happiness. Helen worked hard and I can't say she didn't desereve to win.
Helen didn't deserve to win. She whined and took the easy way out by making her daughter. Tara and Mike looked great- cant believe mike dropped 207 lbs.!Jerry made a complete fool of himself with the yelling and screaming. Go Max- hope to see you next season in the same position as your big bro
Mike looked ssssssooooooo cute & hot. Just couldn't belive he didn't won. I glad that tara didn't won she was selfish. And all well with Helen althought she didn't desive it 2 well we cant do nothing. But still Mike looked HHHHOOOOTTTT AND CCCCUUUTTTEEE.

I also found Helen to be a completely self absorbed, unbearable whiner. Time will tell how she functions out in the real world. I'm skeptical.
Tara and Mike seemed to do more than shed pounds during their time on the ranch.
Also, while we're talking about special people, Kristen, Filipe and Sione were some of my extra favorites. Lastly ... I also want to see Max on Season 8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Helen is totally nasty. Please use your money to get a cut and style, nose job and buy some clothes that are intended for a 48 year old woman (who actually looks 68.)
Helen only was in it for the money, not her health. She looks 20 yrs older now and absolutely sick like. I bet it was not exercise how she did it either. Did you see how all her skin sags now? Gross....She was conceited and thought only of herself. Mike should have walked away with it...He busted his butt and deserved it...
I truely wanted mike to win but I BELIEVE that Ron & mike had nightmares last night because of their very big mistake, choosing Helen instead of ChristEn to stay. (What made them think that Christen was the biggest threat)
Between Tara and Helen they were 2 peas in a pod so it does not matter which one won.

As a Mother to many...it was so disappointing to see a narsasistic Helen win. Aside from her looking horrible, she threw her daughter under the bus for her own self-absorbed desires...shame on her! I could not imaging putting myself before my own children's health and well-being. Shannon, you go girl you are so on the right track. Jerry---so proud of you and all the other contestants!
come on people for real yes i think mike or tara should of won but for real lets dog a woman who worked hard lost alot of weight and is healthier. she cant help what she looks like under all that fat. yea she got saggy skin she lost 140 pds. any1 would. cut her some slack they are all inspiraions. and how do we know what helens daughter is really like meybe shes not a nice person maybe that how the family is maybe her daughter told her too do it know one knows the truth and she should be happy foer what she accomplished
Helen cheated. She admitted that she was working out with a trainer who trained her for wrestling. Wrestlers drop weight by dehydrating themselves. Her skin looked like the bodybuilders do in competition because they've stopped drinking. What did Bob and Jillian preach constantly? Drink water. Compare the skin of Mike and Tara who worked just as hard, but played fair. Helen just seems like the type who'd go to any length to win. Tara and Mike were both more deserving of the win.
I am so disappointed that Helen won. She lost my support when she begged her daughter to go home instead of her. I am a mother of three daughters and would give my life for my daughter's happiness. I really can't understand a mother like Helen. Shannon seemed so hurt when Helen went home both times. I do believe she cheated to win and was dehydrated. Tara and Mike were the true winners of season 7 and if the show determines that she trained with a trainer while home and was dehydrated then her winnings should be forfeited and awarded to the second runner-up.
So glad I am not alone on disappointment that Helen won. I read on another blog there are rumors she is already planning on a boob job and surgery for her skin. Not one word how she is going to help her daughter lose weight by hiring her a trainer. How does this women look in the mirror! Thanks to her daughter, she unfortunately stuck around and for the life of me, I cannot get over the fact she sent her daughter home. What mother does that???? Helen has to be the most selfish contestant and had America had the opportunity to vote, she would have been GONE! I wanted Mike to win but Tara really deserved it too. ANYONE BUT HELEN! Yup, Helen is definitely the biggest loser in more ways than one.
Go Max! I hope he is on the next season! That is the only thing that will make me want to watch next season after the disgust of seeing Helen win! I'm glad to see I'm not the only one to think Helen is a horrible mother! And those who don't think what she did to her daughter was bad obviously does not have children of their own. I feel so bad for Shannon. As a mom my heart goes out to her. I could see a sadness in Shannon's eyes. When she decided to "let her mom stay". It wasn't Shannon's decision, she was doing whatever it would take to win her mother's acceptance and approval. It's sad because all Helen cares about is Helen. I do believe she did something extreme to get to the weight she was at for the final weigh in. She just did not look right. A healthy lifestyle doesn't leave a person looking like a Nazi death camp prisoner. Shannon if you were my kid, I would feel blessed and would have stepped aside without a moments hesitation so that you had a chance to change your life. Ron and Cathy both got it right with their kids. Tara...you rock girl! You should be the biggest losers poster girl. They would sell more advertisement and get more sponsers with you! You're healthy and you look great as does Mike!
