December 5, 2009 marks the 76th anniversary of “Repeal Day”, when the Eighteenth Amendment was repealed, giving back to Americans their constitutional right to drink. The Eighteenth Amendment is the only amendment to the Constitution that has been repealed thanks to the Twenty-first Amendment, marking the end of Prohibition in 1933. Tonight, bars in San Francisco will be celebrating this historical event featuring costumes, music and specialty cocktails of the era and drink specials that require a secret password (all of the following events are 21+):

Repeal Day party. Secret phrase gets you a free shot from our new Buffalo Trace bourbon barrel. Tell bartender: “Swede says hi” One per customer. 9PM to close.

21st Amendment – 563 Second Street (between Bryant and Brannan)
Repealebration Celebration. Wear your zoot suits and flapper dresses (we will). From 5pm to lights out: Party hearty at 21A with 1930’s era jazz, food and drink specials and a secret speakeasy on the mezzanine.
