Ever wish your vagina could resemble the jaws of a great white shark? Or are you simply tired of getting raped throughout your day? If you answered yes to either question, good news: A medical researcher in South Africa has developed a female latex condom she's dubbed the Rape-aXe. The condom is lined with sharp internal barbs that bite into a rapist's penis during forced penetration, which theoretically causes him to retreat in howling pain.
The Rape-aXe is inserted into the vagina--very, very carefully--like a tampon. Soft on the outside, the manufacturer claims it causes the woman no discomfort. Once it chomps down on a penis, only a surgeon can remove the Rape-aXe. And the surgeon, upon being presented with evidence that his screaming patient tried to act out his own version of Irreversible, would then contact police and report Mr. Rapey.
Although not yet available for purchase, the product's creator Sonnet Ehlers says she's teamed up with a medical supply company to distribute the Rape-aXe worldwide. In Ehler's native South Africa, one out of two women will be raped during her lifetime, but her creation has the potential to dramatically change that statistic. Considering her website already garners 18 million hits a month, it's clear there's an eager market for Ehler's product. And although nobody can speculate how many women would realistically sign up to wear a Rape-aXe throughout the day and night, let's just say a certain pinball machine scene in The Accused would have gone very differently if Jodie Foster were packing one of these babies.
