Conservative candidate for Germany's Christian Democratic Union (CDU) has her country in an uproar over her campaign posters. Vera Lengsfeld and compatriot Chancellor Angel Merkel were shown wearing low cut tops in a campaign ad. The slogan says "we have more to offer".
Lengsfeld knew what she was doing when she intentionally put the cleavage heavy shots into the campaign. She knew it was amusing and attention grabbing. In an interview with TIME Lengsfeld says, "I'm a woman and I'm proud of that. I just wanted an eye-catching campaign poster to draw attention to serious election issues, like climate change. The posters are meant to be funny and ironic."
Some of her constituents find it amusing, others find it horrifying accusing her of being anti-feminist and of stooping too low for votes (or should we say scooping her neckline too low). Imagine if Hilary Clinton had employed such tactics in her presidential campaign!
