Over the next few weeks I'll be featuring a selection of products from Doc Johnson, a great sex toy and adult novelty company that's been at it since 1976.
For the sake of comparison, I'll start with the Alumination Vibrator, a waterproof 3-speed aluminum vibe that is similar in size to the Little Chroma Everlasting Vibrator by Jimmyjane that I reviewed in May.
While I loved the Jimmyjane for its replaceable motor (any vibrating motor is going to give out eventually) and a whole lot of umph for a single AA battery, the Alumination is a fraction of the price ($25 versus $125) and offers a similar experience, plus variable speed controls to the Little Chroma's single speed.
The 6" Alumination Vibrator is also slightly bigger (Jimmyjane's Little Chroma is 5.25" with a .67" diameter), and runs on two AAA batteries. Alas, its motor is not replaceable, but it's virtually silent, hums away happily at all three speeds, and vibrates more powerfully at its top setting than the Little Chroma. Both vibes are waterproof for tub use, which I can wholeheartedly recommend.
I got the pink Alumination, but it also comes in black and gold at the same price point and is a great buy for the price.
Stay tuned: The other sample products I got from Doc Johnson are unlike anything else I've reviewed here previously and will require a bit more research.
In the meantime, check out my previous features of Sexy Toys, Sexy Lubes/Lotions/Potions, and Sexy Books for inspiration.

Apparently a Dr. Johnson sales rep.
Nope, not a Doc Johnson sales rep, and not participating in any kind of affiliate program with them either. But I did get a box of sample products to review and will review them honestly: This particular product happens to be a MUCH cheaper version of a similar vibrator from Jimmyjane that I also love and previously reviewed favorably. Thanks for reading and commenting, though: Have you had a different experience with this or other Doc Johnson products?
Love,
Sarah
The Jimmyjane vibe is worth the extra money, in my opinion: It's more solid, more stealthy, and all one piece except for the end cap, which doubles as the on/off switch. The Doc Johnson vibe feels lighter and flimsier, and I don't like the tip, which is made of a different material and has a seam I found annoying. I think the replaceable motor is a worthwhile feature, too -- Let's keep American throwaway culture out of our sex toy collections, at least.
