Lee "Scratch" Perry, Sasha Grey & friends in the video for "Pum Pum"
While working on a longer piece about Sasha Grey, I came across this wild video for "Pum Pum" from Lee "Scratch" Perry: Perfect Sexy Song of the Day convergence!
Grey is credited as a contributor to the reggae/dub/rock legend's 2008 album Repentance (produced by Andrew WK, of all people). In an interview I found while trying to research the extent of her contribution to the record, Lee doesn't seem to know who she is and denies she contributed to the album, but I'm pretty sure that's her at his side in this video and in at least some of the sexy samples on the track, so I'll say this: Perry appears to be an awesomely dirty old man in this video, and so I'll assume he HAS to know full well who Sasha Grey is.
At any rate, this video has EVERYTHING: One of the world's great producers and way-out eccentric geniuses, plus strippers, Jesus, Sasha Grey, banging club dub, and awesomely wacko lines that only Perry could away with, like:
