
The AIDS Service Center NYC serves New Yorkers living with and at risk for HIV/AIDS – The Big apple has three times the national average of people living with HIV/AIDS, and has "more AIDS cases than LA, San Francisco, Miami, and Washington, DC combined" according to its website – and this week is holding a fundraiser to help expand HIV testing and services in the city.
The Safer Sex In The City benefit this Thursday at Duvet (45 W. 21st Street, NYC) will feature a collection from NYC's Museum of Sex, a silent auction, and entertainment by hosts Flotilla DeBarge, Vivid Girl Savanna Samson, singer Reina, and DJ Vic Latino. Sogno Due, a white wine from Savanna Samson Wines, will be served at the event.
Gramy Award winner John Legend has granted AIDS Service Center NYC permission to remix his song "If You're Out There" for a new music video promoting HIV/AIDS awareness and testing. The video, which will premier at the Safer Sex In The City fundraiser, features drag performer Flotilla DeBarge and other celebrities – including Teresa Giudice and Caroline and Dina Manzo from Real Housewives of New Jersey
General tickets for the event cost $100, VIP tickets are $250, and for $2,500 a group of 6 VIPs can "Buy A Bed" with a champagne lounge and exclusive celebrity experience.
AIDS Service Center NYC benefit committee members include Pamela Anderson, Joy Behar, Margaret Cho, Linda Eder, Ellie Krieger, Robert LaFosse, and Gloria Ruben.
