Lindsay Lohan, an actress with plenty of troubles of her own, is set to play porn star Linda Lovelace – nee Linda Susan Boreman – in Inferno, a biopic by Matthew Wilder due out in 2011. The film hasn't even started shooting yet, but with a tabloid target like Lohan attached the marketing machine is already in full swing and the first promotional posters for the movie are circulating this week after photographer Tyler Shields posted them to his site yesterday.
Lovelace is perhaps the most famous porn star of all time, best known for her role in Gerard Damiano's 1972 film Deep Throat (a year ago, the FBI released documents from its obscenity investigation into the film). Lohan fans looking for more of the actress in this very adult role should get plenty of what they're after, but should also be forewarned that Lovelace's story isn't all that sexy: She later claimed that she'd been forced into pornography and prostitution by her abusive husband and never received payment for her now legendary performance in Deep Throat. After her divorce from Chuck Traynor she became an activist and vocal supporter of the feminist anti-pornography movement. In her 1986 testimony for the Attorney General's Commission on Pornography, she said, “When you see the movie Deep Throat, you are watching me being raped. It is a crime that movie is still showing; there was a gun to my head the entire time.”
Wilder's film will presumably rely on details from Lovelace's porn memoirs Inside Linda Lovelace and The Intimate Diary of Linda Lovelace, her post-porn memoirs Ordeal and Out of Bondage, and the 2005 documentary Inside Deep Throat. Will Inferno succumb to the Lovelace curse? Previous Hollywood attempts at telling this story – actresses Courtney Love and Anna Farris have both been attached to dead-end Lovelace biopics in the past – have failed to make it to the screen, and Lohan, embroiled in tabloid headlines this week as always, is not exactly a reliable commodity. Stay tuned!

I've never read any of her books or seen Deep throat ( though it been on my list forever) but I like lohan and subject matter is while within her range. But I wonder if they'll show the Famous (or infamous, now) act that brought Lovelace to fame.
