This morning the Public Library Board of Trustees in Ames, Iowa voted 6-1 to continue openly displaying and offering free copies of the teen magazine Sex, Etc., according to The Ames Tribune.
The free national magazine – tagline: "Sex Education By Teens, For Teens" – is currently distributed for free from a display rack in the teen section of the Ames Public Library and in libraries around the country, but had recently come under consideration of the Ames Library Board after an upset parent circulated a petition asking the library to do away with its Sex, Etc. display rack and stop distributing the magazine for free.
Library director Art Weeks and the library's Board of Trustees stood up for the magazine, and you should too: Sex, Etc. is part of the Teen-to-Teen Sexuality Education Project developed by Rutgers University's Answer project, a national organization dedicated to providing and promoting comprehensive sexuality education to young people and the adults who teach them.
