Ah Aspen, Colorado, no matter how sophisticated it may appear, is still a small mountain-town at heart.
This April, independent filmmaker Robin Blazak will spend the month filming her "low-budget" movie depicting young twenty-something men on the search for Aspen's hottest, most elite cougars.
For those of you who don't know what a cougar is, yes it's a mountain lion of which Aspen has it's fair share, but in this context it means women who are in their forties or older who date young men in their twenties. Aspen has plenty of these too.
Pitken county officials have denied filming around the courthouse saying that the film is just "too racy."
"The title just killed it for me," --Commissioner Rachel Richards
I suppose the title may bring to mind images of a hot porno flick replete with sweaty young men and their svelte older lovers. However Blazak expained that the movie is nothing of the sort and she told the Aspen Daily News that her film is being unfairly rejected.
"I don't see why portraying any woman who is beautiful and successful and independent can be construed as a negative...It is not just a dumb sexual comedy." - Robin Blazak
The good news is other locations in Aspen have agreed to allow filming take place.
