Men, do you sometimes feel like you could pretty much go home with anything on two legs? You're not alone.
A study, published Aug 11 in the journal Human Nature, concluded that men are not as picky as women in their casual sex encounters.
British researchers asked 860 American, German, and Italian students to imagine being approached by members of the opposite sex described as "slightly unattractive", "moderately attractive", and "exceptionally attractive". The participants were then asked what their response would be if each of these types were to ask them to go out, go to their apartment, or to go to bed with them.
The study found that the 427 men were more likely to accept offers of casual sex from members of the opposite sex. Also, they were more likely to engage in all three acts; go out, go to the apartment, and go to bed, from all levels of attractiveness.
Women, however, are more particular. Men needed to be in the category of "exceptionally attractive" for them to engage in the act of casual sex.
It seems weird that a study has been done on this subject, since I could tell you these conclusions as fact just by having male friends for years and working in bars.
An interesting bit of information form the study determined that German men were less likely to accept date, apartment, and sex offers than American and Italian men. And Italian men are more likely than Americans to accept an offer of casual sex. Hmmm.
