America is notorious for the battle between the Republican and Democratic party. Candidates from other parties struggle to get any coverage when these two political power horses of Washington go head to head. But how well do you think they would fair against a Sex Party?
The Australian Sex Party received approval from the Electorial commision in Australia to register as an official political party. One of the speakers for this party is Fiona Patten. She was quoted by the Sydney Morning Hearld "One of the reasons for establishing the party was to provide a positive platform for sexual issues amongst the negative notions of sex that most politicians and political parties have." Sex is one of the most natural things a person can do. It is part of our every day life, but all too often sex and the issues that come along with it get pushed to the side. People don't necessarily want to discuss sexual matters. Bringing this into the political arena is perhaps a great way to face a problem head on. While the party is in Australia, not America, the fact that it was approved is something to pay attention to. The world is changing and in any situation the only way to keep up is to adapt along with the change. Perhaps five to ten years from now America will have their own Sex Political Party.
A party that will tackle the tough discisions of sex education or abstinence, Sexually transmitted diseases, Sexual Addictions, and censorship to name a few. Only time will tell.
